Tips for the Chairmen
*  Keep the tone of the meeting impersonal.
*  Don't let the meeting get out of hand.
*  Insist that all members address the chair.
*  If in doubt on any issue, ask for avote from the assembly.
*  Keep the members clearly informed on all matters.

Tips for Members
*  Participate.
*  Always be recognized by the chair before speaking
*  Avoid personalities when speaking.
*  Be courteous even when disagreeing.
*  Be responsible as a member to help achieve the goal of the
group.
*  Do the work necessary by volunteering.
*  Be a contributing member and serve on committees when
requested.

Use of Gavel
*  2 taps calls meeting to order
*  1 tap after announcement of voting results
*  1 sharp tap or a series of sharp taps to restore dignity and
order
*  1 tap after announcement of adjournment

Fundamental Parliamentary Practices
*  Address the chair as Madam Chairman.
*  Stand to be recognized by the Chair.
*  If a member is entitled to the floor, the Chair recognizes him by
calling his name.
*  To offer a nomination, after the floor is open, a member
obtains the floor and states,      "I nominate ... for ..." A second is
not required on nominations. After the president          has asked
for further nominations and none are presented, a member may
obtain         the floor and state "I move that nominations cease."
A second is required to cease        nominations followed by a
majority. The Chair says "It is moved and seconded that        the
nominations cease. Those supporting the motion that we close
nominations say       aye and those opposed say no. There
being a majority, the motion is carried and          the nominations
are closed."
*  To make a main motion the member must say, "I move that ..."
A second is required       for a main motion followed by a
majority. The Chair says "It is moved and seconded       that ..."
and "The question is now open for discussion." After the
discussion, the            Chair says, "Those supporting the motion
say aye or raise your hand. Those                 opposed say no or
raise your hand. The ayes have it and the motion is carried. We  
     will..."
